Free Runescape Games Game Marathon

The Marathon is an event available during the 2012 Gielinor Free Runescape Games. It is set in three different locations that, spread throughout Gielinor. The aim is to run through all of the checkpoints and complete the course as quickly as possible. The Marathon does not run all the time on all worlds, but it is announced through the in-game chat box on all servers. There are currently 3 Marathon courses. Players will receive constitution xp and contribution points based on their constitution level and how fast they complete the marathon.
Many players expressed confusion about the Marathon, expecting Jagex Moderators to host the event. In actuality, the event commences itself without any action by Jagex Moderators. The worlds/times for the marathons have been standardised so far. The marathons seem to occur on the same worlds at the same time everyday. Therefore it is easy to prepare ahead of time if you know the worlds and times.

Running a Marathon

Checking In

When a message in the chatbox says that the race has started, pass through the starting checkpoint (a pair of large torches, also known as gates), and a yellow arrow will appear on your minimap indicating where the next checkpoint is. As you pass through each checkpoint in order, you will receive a red bannered message in the middle of your screen accompanied by applause and cheers or booing. The magnitude of the cheers will tell you if your pace is excellent or just average. If you miss a checkpoint there will be "boo-ing" from the audience.

Strategy

Since the marathon only tracks checkpoints and not routes, direct running/walking is not strictly required. Teleportation can be used to speed up legs. Try to visualise the route before the race and work out where teleports may save time. Remember to bring your teleport items with you.
Weight reducing clothing, energy potions or the Explorer Ring for its energy replenish ability, the Surefooted aura, or bathing in the saltwater spa in Oo'glog before the race (after completion of As a First Resort...) are all recommended.
The obvious strategy to minimize clicking while running a marathon is to try and follow a good runner. Look for players wearing weight reducing clothing, such as agile armour, spottier cape, boots of lightness, etc.
There is no limit on the number of marathons that can be attempted in one day. However, there is a 30k exp cap. After completing a marathon, you can begin another lap by tagging any gate to reset the lap, then return back to the starting gate Free Runescape game .
Once the checkpoints appear they will stay active for approximately 60 minutes by game ticks rather than real time, so any lag caused by the world server will not affect the number of laps that can be done before the checkpoints disappear.
When a participant logs out or is disconnected from the game, all checkpoints are reset, and the player must go back again to the starting point.

Free Runescape Game games Show me your Skills

Show me your Skills
RuneScape’s skill based progression method means any player can be a master mage, warrior, and craftsman at the same time though this would take quite a bit of training on all three fronts. The beauty of this system is that it leaves you free to try a little bit of each style and see which you enjoy most. There is no need for multiple characters and players are free to hop between Free Runescape game servers almost instantly with the same character & items attached. Of course every system has its downsides. Since experience points in each skill are rewarded per use, people find the most efficient methods of raising skills even if they are silly and repetitive. After seeing a group of players slaughtering groups of respawning cows I inquired as to what was going on. The response was that this was the best way to work up attack skills for the first two dozen or so ranks. This form of progression almost forces people to use automated botting programs which are a huge recurring problem for the developers.

At first many of the crafting and resource gathering skills didn’t interest me but I whenever I grew tired of hunting, I found myself pull out the old pick axe and go mining. Eventually I discovered just how in-depth RuneScape’s player run economy was. The RuneScape Wiki even has a constantly updated ‘Common Trade Index’ which represents the price of a pool of common resources such as coal, gold bar, steel and so on. There also exists a large market for difficult to obtain items and I’ve met people who log onto the game only to trade and collect these items. The byproduct of this much interest in the game economy is a ton of gold sellers and other undesirables trying to pawn money making or cheating guides both online and in game. Of course RuneScape has plenty of content for those seeking to make their fortune through adventure rather than astute business transactions. There are dungeons to clear, haunted mansions to explore and a huge wilderness to tame but most of this content is locked away, only about a third of the world can be explored for free with the rest requiring a subscription ($5/month) to access.

Kid Through Adult
Free RuneScape Game has the inaccurate label of being a kids game but this misconception is shattered the first time you fall in combat. Upon death, players respawn in a safe location but all the equipment and items they were carrying drop where they died. This fact, along with the existence of open pvp zones and servers, makes RuneScape far more ‘hardcore’ than many recent MMORPGs including the mega hit World of Warcraft. Besides the limited free to play features, the only other problem I had with RuneScape was the absurdly limited backpack space. All players have 28 item slots and only some items are stackable such as arrows, gold, and runes (spell reagents.) If you plan on leaving town adequately armed, you’ll need a few tools, some food (for healing purposes), runes and other items which severely restricts the slots left for loot. If I could ask for one improvement to the game, it would be more free features but considering the success the game continues to enjoy, that doesn’t seem likely so my next request would be for more bag space.
Final Verdict: Excellent
RuneScape has withstood the test of time and continues to offer some of the best browser based gaming experiences available. Constant updates, a huge community, open PvP, a player run economy and a unique progression system all add up to make RuneScape the great casual browser-based success that it is.

RuneScape Overview

RuneScape has become a worldwide sensation since its 2004 release (the original beta release was in 2001) and continues to grow today. The game looks and plays much like traditional Western style RPGs that were popular in the 1990s but plays entirely on your browser. Rather than choosing a class and leveling up, all players can progress as they chose by using the game’s 24 skills. Each skill starts at rank 1 and has a maximum rank of 99. There are no caps but many of the skills are restricted to subscribers ($5/month.) RuneScape runs on Java so new users may need to install an update for it before playing but other than that, there are no barriers to entry. This ease of access coupled with the large and varied game world of Gielinor have helped make RuneScape the most successful browser based MMORPG of all time. Along with many important skills, many other features are only available to paying members which somewhat diminish RuneScape’s free to play credentials.
Premium features include:
- Full screen mode
- 9 additional skills to train
- No in-game ads
- Access to 29 minigames
- Access to over 100 more quests
- Player owned housing.
- Access to the entire game world (only 1/3 available otherwise)

RuneScape Full Review

After a long beta period, Free RuneScape Games  was released back in 2004 and at that time it was one of the only browser based MMORPGs with a graphic user interface and a truly persistent world. Since then, the world of Gielinor has attracted millions of players from across the globe. What makes RuneScape such an enduring game and how has it continued to attract new players even in today’s environment where there are literally hundreds

All From Your Browser!
Since RuneScape is a browser game, character creation, the login process and the actual game client are all accessed through the neatly organized home page. Account creation is a breeze and character creation is a simple process where players chose between several hair styles, clothes and colors. I gave my character a sagely old man look with the hope of becoming a powerful wizard someday. It is important to note that RuneScape can be played in either the old SD (standard) mode or the new HD (high quality) mode. Regardless of which graphic setting you select, you’ll be in the same game world though the user interfaces are different. I’ve heard veterans complain about the new style but for new players my suggestion is to stick with HD unless you’re on an extremely weak computer or have a poor internet connection. Even on HD, the graphics appear pixilated. Graphics have never been one of RuneScape’s strengths.
Boy Scout Beginnings
New players start their journey in a special tutorial zone where they will be introduced to such important activities as fishing, cooking, mining, smithing, woodcutting, and firemaking. Each of these activities has its own related skill which can either be raised or ignored depending on your personal tastes. Personally, I found an addictive quality to seeing my woodcutting and firemaking skills go up so I spent a great deal of time filling up my inventory with logs than burning them one by one. After the brief lesson in craftsmanship, the tutorial moves on to more important skills such as melee and ranged combat (both with bows & spells.) The six combat related skills include Strength, Defense, Hitpoints, Attack, Ranged, and Magic. The skill ‘hitpoints’ determines a player’s base HP (1-99) and the supportive skill ‘prayer’ determines base MP along with granting access to supportive spells such as buffs. Combat, at least during the early stages, is generally not very exciting in RuneScape. You trade blows with your opponent and since your skills start out at rank 1, you’ll either be missing or dealing minimal damage.

Free Runescape May Become a Console game games

Runescape as it is now holds a lot of potential. It is one of the most successful browser rpg’s available, I would think, and has a large community of gamers that support it. So may Jagex be looking into expand their horizons and bring the Runescape game into areas such as console or PC gaming.
Rumors of a true video game adaption have been circulating for years, probably since its release. I have been hearing about this video game coming out on the PlayStation 3 for quite a while. However, the chances of a true adaption of Free Runescape Game  is pretty slim. Jagex does have their reasons for not wanting to tamper with an already successful product, I am sure.
For one thing, why fix what is not broken? To be simply put, Jagex probably does not want to tamper with such a successful game, since there is no need to. They are already making a sizable sum of money through membership subscription revenue so why switch to a full on adaption when that may alienate some gamers? Not only that, but Runescape is able to be played by virtually every computer, since it is not graphically intensive. So people who have old school or weak computers are able to play and enjoy the game regardless. However, if they decided to make the game for one of the consoles or even adapt it to modern PC game standards, they would be alienating a major portion of their fan base. The game would not only take up a lot of the space due to the amount of features that this game holds, but it would require a fairly modern computer in order for you to play it.
Also, the video game development cycle for a game as ambitious as Runescape would be very costly. Now, Runescape does generate a  lot of money to Jagex most likely, but the cost associated with creating such an online game would probably take a lot of their money from their pockets, which may not be what they are aiming for. As a widespread and easily accessible online game, Runescape succeeds with ease, but with a console or PC game, it may find more trouble than it intends to.
But imagine if Runescape were to be adapted into a retail game for the Xbox 360 or PC platforms. It would be nothing short of amazing, and it most likely would steal the title of game of the year. The amount of content available in the game, including quests, character customization, player versus player, housing and much more, alone is enough to make it a step above many of the other online games available. But with well made 3D graphics, maybe nearing the level of World of Warcraft, it would most likely dominate the mmorpg scene.
However, Free Runescape is arguably as good as it needs to be. It has a large fan base even with its graphics and the platform it is running on,which shows that expanding into different fortes is not a necessity. To be honest, if Runescape were to become a console video game, I am sure a sizable portion of the fan base would be disappointed.

Social Slayer

Nothing brings people together like facing down a ravening horde of bloodvelds. As such, from today, you'll be able to pair up into two-player groups to take on slayer tasks.
To team up, simply use your enchanted gem or slayer ring on the player you wish to invite, or use the gem or ring's new 'co-op' right-click option and enter their name when prompted. As long as neither of you are on an active slayer task, or if you're on the same slayer task, you'll invite them to join your group. Note that you must be on the same world to team up.
Targets killed by you or your slayer partner will count towards your current task's kill count. Combat and Slayer XP won't be shared between you, but you'll burn through tasks in half the time and competition for kills will be less fierce.

Each time you complete a task in a slayer group, you'll earn a co-op point. These new points can be spent in the Slayer Rewards Store, accessible from any slayer master by right-clicking and selecting the 'rewards' option, and then selecting the 'co-op' tab. These rewards include two new pets: a cute - if slimy - baby aquanite, and a tiny strykewyrm by the name of Freezy. As well as this, you can unlock the permanent ability to share potion effects: drink a potion while your slayer partner is nearby, and they'll be granted half of the full bonus that the potion imparted to you. The Free Runescape game ability to heal your group partner by using food items on them can also be unlocked. These two functions can only be used in designated slayer areas and while in a group, but they're a handy way to help out if your friend's flagging.

Friends who slay together stay together, so buddy up and cut a two-way swathe through RuneScape's monster population!

Preparing for the Gielinor Games

Preparations are proceeding apace for the Gielinor Games: a multicultural sporting spectacular that will bring the denizens of Gielinor together for a contest of endurance, dexterity and...well...cheese rolling.
Beleaguered site foreman Oomad Arrow needs all hands on deck. Free players and members alike can pitch in, making medals, producing construction components (only for members), and creating fine fusion cuisine; all vital for making the Gielinor Games an event to remember.

Speak to Oomad Arrow in Varrock square to get started. You can complete each of these three tasks once per day, each day until the Gielinor Games begin. You’ll earn plenty of Smithing, Mining, Cooking and Construction XP (for members) for helping out, as well as contribution points, which can be spent on some athletically themed rewards once the games kick off. Be sure to visit Oomad’s shop for a sneak preview!

Mod Dylan

In Other News
  • You can now access the Slayer rewards shop without having completed Smoking Kills. However, you must still have completed the quest to buy anything other than the new co-op rewards.
  • If you've had your private chat settings set to 'off' for a very long time, you may find that Slayer group invites are not blocked. To fix this, simply change your private chat to another setting, and then change it back to 'off'.

Free Runescape Gamers' Grotto

Gamers' Grotto

Gamers' Grotto is a cave located just north of Falador, which was released when the Wilderness was restored on 1st February 2011. It contains three popular activities: Stealing Creation, Clan Wars and a portal to Fist of Guthix. The Dungeon itself has been given a teleport via the Games necklace, which has replaced the teleports to the Bounty Hunter/Wilderness Volcano and Clan Wars arena.

The Free Runescape Game dungeon was originally believed to be a 'hub' for fans of these activities (corresponding with player worries about how these activities would be affected by the return of the Wilderness), while the games themselves would remain in the Wilderness and could be accessed much more easily by the portals here. It was discovered with the launch of the update that the activities were moved here. The area that once held Clan Wars now holds the Bone Yard, an area for F2P players to train the Prayer skill (This addition was part of the original PvP Wilderness.) The area that held Stealing Creation has been only slightly altered, so that the graves that were nearby on the grassy hill have been moved closer to the Wilderness Volcano. The Fist of Guthix activity technically remains in the Wilderness, with the entry now being by portal from the Gamers' Grotto.
The Mystic's Camp, where Stealing Creation is played, is in the North of the dungeon, in the largest room. The entire activity has been moved, including the Rewards trader, portals and game lobbies.
To the South is the portal to the Fist of Guthix activity. Enter the portal and you will be teleported directly to the cave, and exiting the cave will result in returning here. Surprisingly, this leads to the wilderness, although you can't be killed here and the only way out is to use the portal which leads you back to the grotto.
The final game in the dungeon is to the East, which is the famous Clan Wars. The portals have all been moved to this location, along with the NPCs related to the activity, such as Larry, who sells team capes to players. For player convinience, there is a one-click Bank Chest in the corner of this room.
There was also some speculation that the creatures from the Wilderness Volcano (and possibly the Revenants) would have been moved to this location. However, on 1 February 2011, it was revealed that they resided in the new Forinthry Dungeon.

Free Runescape Gielinor Games Preparation

The Gielinor Games Preparation was the event leading up to the Gielinor Games, taking place from 11 July 2012 up until the games were released on 24 July 2012. Each day, all players could assist foreman Oomad Arrow, located on Varrock square, in making food and medals for the games, and members could help make Construction materials.
Assisting in the preparation rewarded contribution points, which can be spent in the Gielinor Free Runescape Games Reward Shop. In addition, all players gain Mining and Smithing experience for making medals and cooking experience for catering dishes; members gain Mining and Construction experience for making construction materials.
Level 40 in Cooking, Mining, Smithing, and Construction allowed one to create the highest possible items for Oomad.

Catering

The Gielinor Games kitchen.
Speak to Oomad and ask to make food. He'll request a dish with a combination of three flavours. Go to the oven and try to make the dish.
There are 18 types of food, which all give points in three of the six categories. Every ingredient has three flavours, the main flavour is worth 4 points, the secondary flavour is worth 2 points, and the tertiary flavour is worth 1 point.
There are a maximum of four slots to place ingredients into (there are two slots with cooking level 19 and lower, and three slots with cooking level 20-39), and the goal is to maximize the number of points for the dish by using ingredients that match the flavours the best.
Once cooked, hand the Gielinor games food to Oomad by using it on him, which awards some contribution points, up to 20 per dish (depending on his request), in addition to some Cooking experience. Up to three dishes can be made per day.

Best Combinations

The best method in order to obtain maximum points on the cooking portion is to select every food and only choose ones that give six or seven points. If there are only three or two six-pointed foods try to obtain ones that reward five points instead. Try to fill up all four/three/two slots and to get 23 points or above.

Making Medals

Oomad requests 7 medals, with the metal type depending on your Smithing level. To make the medals, you'll first have to mine some nuggets from the large scrap pile near the forge. Use the best pickaxe available, as it takes a while. You need 2 nuggets to make 1 medal, so a total of 14 is required. After you have all the scraps required, use them on the nearby forge. Hand the medals to Oomad.
You can hand in more than 7 medals, up to 27 medals (maximum number of medals you can put in your inventory) but receive no extra contribution points for doing so.

Players can carry the weapons and armor of the three combat categories in their inventories and switch between or combine the styles. You can also learn various skills such as herblore or even chopping wood. The wood chopping skills are one of the few ways to make money in Runescape. All you need is an axe and a machete. There are also mini-games which you can play and if you survive/win you will receive special items or weapons. Ready, Set, Go for the Gielinor Games

Calling all budding athletes! Representatives of the peoples of Gielinor have gathered to help bridge the gap between their species. They have proposed four grand sporting events, where each race can compete (fairly and within the rules of course) in order to prove their worth to their patron deities.
A portal has been constructed in Varrock square to transport athletes to a series of floating islands (courtesy of the clans) that have been custom-made to host the inaugural Gielinor Games.
What seems like an event of a serious nature is actually a chance for everyone to let their hair down and have a break with comical sporting events. So, try not to take things too seriously, as you'll be taking part in an event that will have you chasing cheese down a hill, among many other things.
There are four events to take part in:
  • Head-to-Head: A race track with a difference - you can only move forward by playing cards! These cards have special abilities that will help you or hinder you. Look out for mad cows and oddly dressed streakers.
  • Cheese-wheel Rolling: As the name implies, you'll be rolling cheese, but you have to chase after it too. Sprint after the cheese down the hill and dodge the oncoming obstacles in a thrilling race to the finish line.
  • Resource Race: The clock is ticking as you gather as many logs, ores and herbs as you can within the time limit. Don't forget to deposit them!
  • Marathon: Do you have the stamina for a hearty jog around Gielinor? Run through the checkpoints and complete the course as quickly as you can. Note that this event does not run at all times and on all worlds, but will be announced when and where it is about to begin.
You might want to turn on your audio too as there are commentators that will throw some cheesy puns your way while you're avoiding cows and gathering herbs.
JMods will be around to help out too, running marathon events and award ceremonies.
To reward you for your efforts, as well as the XP to be gained from taking part in the events, contribution points will be awarded. These points can be traded for various items such as three tiers of costume items, two emotes and a title. You can also purchase XP boosting rings that will grant you more XP when you're participating in the games.
The games will last for 4 weeks - more than enough time for you to experience all of the events and earn enough to buy all the rewards.
Feel like you have the "eye of the tiger shark"? Well… head on over to Varrock and speak to the delegates to pick your deity and take part.

    • We've changed the requirements for medals and tokens so that catching big fish - and assisting others in doing so - is much more rewarding.
    • You can now hold up to 10 tokens at a time.
    • We've changed how the scores are displayed so they more closely reflect the XP you'll earn , although the amount of XP hasn't changed.

Games Room Guide

Introduction

The Games Room in RuneScape is a place where you can challenge other players to enjoyable board games while enjoying the tastes of Asgarnian Ale, Dwarven Stout and Wizard's Mind Bombs (aka Beers). You've been beating your friend's head in for the last 30 minutes. You've been beaten in the face for just as long. Apparently, this isn't the best way for you and your friend to decide if you should have pizza or hamburgers for lunch. Is there no other way to decide? Now, you can decide in this games room. No need for violence, use your brain. Challenge your friend to a game in the Free Runescape  game room, and show him that pizza is the best choice for lunch.

How to get there

The Games room is located in the basement of Burthorpe Castle. Burthorpe is located north of Taverley and the Hero's guild. Have a look at our world map to see exactly where. How do you get there you ask? Good question. There are two primary ways to get to the castle.
Walking from Falador or Camelot:
  • From the centre of Falador, follow the North road out of the city, through Taverley. Continue to follow the road until you come to a branch in the road. Take the North path. Soon, you will reach Burthorpe. Wander around until you find the castle, and go down both flights of stairs.
  • Alternatively, from Camelot, go under White Wolf Mountain to the other side. Head east, and follow the road that goes North.
  • Pro: No money wasted on runes or items.
  • Con: Time consuming as you have to walk.
Game room teleport
  • This is the fastest way to get to the game room. Click it, and you are instantly in the entrance hall. You'll need a minimum of level 7 magic and level 10 crafting to do this. Game necklaces only have 8 charges, and will melt when the last charge is used.
  • Pro: Fastest method by far.
  • Con: Requires the time to get the supplies and make the amulet.
Sapphire: 300 gp. Gold bar: 400 gp.
Realizing you don't have to spend 10 minutes walking to the castle: Priceless.

You're there now - below is a map of where you will be. Now what? Sit down and grab a drink from Sam the bartender next to you, and I'll teach you how to totally "0wn" the other players. As you enter either of the challenge rooms (RuneLink on the right and Draughts on the left), you will notice one of two things. The first will be the game board at the top corner of your screen. The next will be a lot of 3 digit or 4 digit numbers where everyone's combat normally is. Odd eh. How did everyone level up so quickly? Nah, you see their rank for that game. Unless specified, a game will affect your ranking when you win or lose. You begin with 1000 rank points at the beginning. The better players have ranks way higher than that, and the not so good players will have ranks that are lower. Begin by challenging people that are close to your rank

The Free Runescape Games Room in a player-owned house is a place to relax and play some games that rely both on logic and skills in RuneScape. This room can be created at level 30 Construction, costing the player 25,000 coins. Only one Games Room can be built in a POH. Unlike the Menagerie, the room cannot be moved. Players may also obtain prize keys from winning games, to receive a reward from the prize chest.
There are 5 hotspots available:
  • Stone - Two players have separate combat stones, and the first to break their combat stone is the winner. However, bits of the combat stone can fly off and deal damage to the player.
  • Ranging game - Various games that test the Ranged skill. The dartboard and archery target require the player to bring their own projectiles.
  • Elemental balance - The players must use the elemental spells (air, earth, fire, and water) to put the colour of the orb to white.
  • Prize chest - Contains prizes for the winner of the game.
  • Game - Various games that do not test a skill, and include treasure hunt, the jester, and hangman.

Free Runescape Games necklace

Games necklace

The Games necklace can be made by casting Enchant Level 1 Jewellery on a sapphire necklace, and can be used eight times before crumbling to dust. This item is popular for players to recharge Amulets of glory, as the new Distraction and Diversion Troll Invasion is close to the Heroes' Guild. The item is extremely useful, considering the relative ease of creating it. Only games necklaces with eight or one charges may be traded to other players on the Grand Exchange.
The number of charges remaining is shown in brackets in the item name. E.g., "Games necklace (8)". Note that only the Games Necklace (1 & 8) can be sold on the Grand Exchange, while the other necklaces can be traded to other players, but not through the Grand Exchange.
It currently costs 119.125 coins for each teleport. If the player sells the necklace with one charge on the Grand Exchange, 2333 coins could, in theory, be gained.
On 28 June 2011, The Games necklace was changed in a hidden update to teleport players to Troll Invasion in Burthorpe, instead of Burthorpe Free Runescape Games Room which it did before. The right-click option when worn is still labeled "Burthorpe".
After helping the companions in Temple Trekking to a total level of 500 or higher, it will unlock a teleport to Burgh de Rott on the necklace.
The Games necklace can now be used as an effective banking method, as there is a bank chest just south of Troll Invasion.

 Trivia

  • The games necklace used to have the ability to teleport you to the Wilderness Volcano even after the Bounty Hunter activity had been removed. This option was replaced with the option to teleport to the Corporeal Beast's cave.
  • If you have not completed Summer's End, the Corporeal Beast option is still included with the right-click options when wielded, but clicking it will yield the message "You can't go there until you've completed Summer's End."
  • The games necklace first appeared in both F2P and P2P later it was made purely P2P resulting in many F2P players having a necklace reading "Members Object"
  • When you equip a 7 charged Games' Necklace, your character will be darker.

Free Runescape Scams Account İtems Rules money

Scamming is the act of stealing money, items or accounts from another player through deception or trickery. It is strictly against the Rules of Free RuneScapegame and can be punishable by a mute or ban. Scamming is as old as RuneScape itself, and the wide range of scams range from simple and obvious to clever and complex. Most scams involve tricking a victim in one way or another, although occasionally scammers will exploit flaws in the trade system, or even glitches in the game, to steal players' items.
Players can be reported for attempted or successful scamming. However, victims of scamming will not have their items returned to them, even if Jagex punishes the scammer.

Quick tips to avoid scamming

Players who adhere to the following suggestions will find it much easier to spot scams and avoid being fooled by them.
  • If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is a scam.
  • Do not do the following with items you are not willing to lose: Drop them, bring them into the Wilderness or dangerous Clan Wars, or offer them in trust trades (including gambling).
  • Keep account information secure. Only enter it into the official Free RuneScapegame website and don't tell anyone else your password, recovery questions, or email address.
  • Always carefully check the trade window to verify which items are being traded.
  •
  • Scams related to trust trading

A trust trade occurs when a victim gives a scammer money or an item, trusting that the scammer will then return the favor, either by providing a service or by giving the victim a greater amount of money or a more valuable item. Instead, however, the scammer simply takes the victim's money and leaves. Trust trades may also occur when scammers ask to borrow items that cannot be lent, such as the various spirit shields.
Any players who consider engaging in a trust trade should factor in the risk that the recipient will steal their item or money. Even a friend or clan member could decide to abuse a player's trust and scam them out of millions of coins.

    Doubling money

The money-doubling scam is one of the most popular scams in RuneScape, and can often be seen being performed at populated areas such as the Grand Exchange, particularly on trading worlds. The scammer will offer the victim a deal: If the victim trades the scammer some money, the scammer will then trade the victim double the victim's amount. The doubling occurs in a separate trade; the money must first be given to the scammer. Doubling money, therefore, is a trust trade. After the scammer receives the victim's money they will simply log out.
Over time this scam has evolved to appear more legitimate. For example, in order to establish credibility, the scammer will often double small amounts of money (such as 50,000 coins) before accepting a larger amount and logging out. Some players will simply take this smaller amount and leave; much to the dismay of the scammer. Some scammers may also have other players pretend to have their money doubled by the scammer, and stand around talking about the "legit" money doubler. However, the scammer will still log out when given a large amount by an unsuspecting player.
Variants: Adding certain percentages to your money.
    Example of a transaction:
Player 1: Doubling money! 50k test!
Player 2 offers trade to player 1
Player 1 and Player 2 trade
    Player 2 offers 50k
    Both players accepted trade
Player 1 and Player 2 trade again
    Player 1 offers 100k to player2
Player 2: Wow you are legit!
Player 1 and Player 2 trade
    Player 2 offers 500k
    Both players accepted trade
Player 1 leaves or logs off, leaving Player 2 behind
Note that any player who doubles money in one trade is not scamming. However, be wary of the rounding scam also the Just click 'w' scam.
Suggested actions: Report the player with Scamming, don't try to give your money to doubler if he/she does it in two trades, if you can handle the money, you can 'test' the doubler and leave.

How the offences are shown.
The Rules of RuneScape (formerly called the Rules of Conduct, commonly just called the Rules) are part of the terms and conditions of playing Free RuneScape Game . When players make an account, they agree to be bound by the rules and to face punishment (i.e. a ban or a mute) if they do not abide by them.
Jagex's Customer Support team may apply a variety of sanctions against rule breakers, up to a permanent account ban. Lesser offences may result in a warning, temporary ban, or a temporary or permanent mute.
The RuneScape Forums operate under a set of rules called the "Code of Conduct". The Code of Conduct is very similar to the Rules of Runescape, with some sections tailored and expanded upon to make them more suitable for the Forums. You can find more information about the Code of Conduct in RuneScape Forums. There are also specific rules taylored to each specific forum, called the "Forum Specific Rules", and they can be found by clicking on the link near the top of each forum.
The term "Jagex Rules" is often used to collectively refer to the Rules of Runescape, Code of Conduct, and any other rules relevant to discussion.
Keeping your account's offences to a minimum contributes to greater success at becoming a Player Moderator.
Note: These rules were copied from the RuneScape website, but we cannot guarantee that they are accurate or up-to-date. Therefore, the rules given here cannot be taken as definitive, only those listed on the RuneScape website can. It is individual players' responsibility to ensure that they abide by Jagex's current rules and policies at all times in the game, on the Free RuneScape Forums, and everywhere else. Jagex rules are also enforced on this wiki, and any user who posts information or advice on how to break rules may be blocked from editing.

Free Runescape Game Client Troubleshooting

The Game client is an open source RuneScape launcher, built by Jagex. The client is designed to compensate for those who do not have Java installed or those who are having issues with Java. Specifically, for Mac users, the client can be used to improve game performance for those running OS X Lion and Safari 5.1, which run RuneScape much slower than their predecessors. Since Jagex updated the client to its current state, they have released the source code to the public in accordance to the GPL version 2 license of OpenJDK.
The project began on 20 January 2010 and was launched on 25 May 2013, originally only being available to Windows users. An unofficial client was eventually developed to work with Mac operating systems using the source code from the Windows Client, but was then superseded by a download on the Runescape website. As of 6 September 2012, the current release is version 1.2.2.
Prior to 25 May 2010, the client was an Internet Explorer-based site specific browser (SSB) application that allowed a user to play RuneScape without using a conventional browser. It is the only RuneScape-related software authorised by Jagex. Using other software (such as SwiftKit) does not go against the Rules of Free RuneScape Bots , but is not recommended for use by Jagex. Version 1.0.0.5 was the last stable of this release client version by Jagex.
The official client may be downloaded at the Downloads section of the RuneScape website. However, the client is not available for download in some states in the US, such as Texas, due to legal reasons.

Troubleshooting

If users are having problems with the Game Client, they are recommended to try following these steps in order and see if they can resolve their problem.

General

  • When the Game Client loads, I get a page saying "Page cannot be displayed"
This is most likely to do with a personal firewall which is blocking the Client from accessing the internet. Users will have to allow the program ("runescape.exe" or "JagexLauncher.exe" for Windows users, and "RuneScape.app" for Mac users) access to the internet in order for it to work.
  • When clicking on the map, the screen goes black, as if loading, but never loads.
    • Click on the screen, and if it doesn't load, open another program to minimise it. If that doesn't work then just exit the program and restart it.

Mac

  • When I try resizing the window, the client locks up.
The Mac version of the client cannot be resized in software mode. Switching to OpenGL solves the problem and will allow access to the resizable and fullscreen options. The window can be resized in OpenGL, and the graphics can subsequently be switched back to software mode without problems.
  • When i try to run the game on either the web or the client, it is unresponsive. It loads, but then when finished, i cant click anything or type anything.
